Colorado Gardening - Vegetable Crops to Plant in August

Can you believe that Summer ’19 is already half over? Have you noticed that the days are getting shorter?

That being said, the Colorado gardening season is far from over. Not only is it time to reap the benefits (also known as tomatoes) of your labor (also known as weeding), but you can still plant something new that you will be able to harvest through October, and I not talkin’ just pumpkins here!

Consider planting radishes, and leafy greens like spinach and endive. Other late summer planting options are peas, broccoli, and even peas.

If you are not sure where to start or what is possible, the Colorado Department of Agriculture has created a great chart (see sample below) that you can view and/or download:

You local, independently owned garden center is also a great resource for ideas on what is possible!
